Lawton, OK - Buffalo Bob's RV Park - Sept-Oct, 2014

Home to see family and friends! Always nice to see everyone!  We decided to give Buffalo Bob's RV Park a try this time since it is closer to Bruce's parents.

Site 104

Buffalo Bob's RV Park
The park is clean and the sites are of decent size.  Monthly have to use a back in site.
Full hook up with wifi and cable.
The monthly rate with Good Sam discount is $410.
There is a bath house that also is a storm shelter! Nice to have the shelter in this part of the country.
There is a club room with great wifi. Wifi at our site isn't really stable, on and off connection.
Free laundry!
The office is not manned all day but the manager lives right next door so is only a phone call away.
The only negative is we are a country setting and have had problems with mice. This is not a problem I blame on the park though.

Downtown Two Rivers, Wisconsin

As you may have surmised from reading my posts - this is a wonderful area! After my hometown of Lawton, razed our downtown area in the name of Urban Renewal, I have become very observant of downtown areas that have been restored instead of torn down. This is another beautiful example of what Lawton should have done with our historic downtown - rehabbed it to a historic downtown shopping area instead of a big old ugly mall!! OK, anyway...we stopped in a place called Unique Flying Objects which had kites, flags and all kinds of other gizmos. Some of the kites were almost too pretty to fly! They also had something called Sky Lanterns which the clerk told us that on Labor Day thousands are released over the lake and it was a beautiful sight to see. The are made of paper in the shape of a hot air balloon  and a candle it lite in the bottom. The hot air of the candle makes the lantern fill with air and rise. They eventually catch afire, if the conditions are right, way up in the sky. Since we won't be here Labor Day here's a picture I found...
Sky Lanterns
Stopped in another store, Schroeder's Department Store, and talked to a very friendly sales clerk. Asked what life was like here in the winter...brutal! Snow, ice is always on the ground, just keeps piling up. And unbelievably COLD! Guess that may be one of the reasons that the houses are so nice and flowers everywhere - they go out and enjoy their beautiful summers since winter is so harsh. Bruce told her we'd found out that they call water fountains "bubblers" and sure enough the store had an actual bubbler. The water bubbles up not out in an arch. We have truly enjoyed our time in Wisconsin! If I had enough money I'd buy a house up here to spend summers here but since I hate being cold would have to leave for the winter!

Lake Lawtonka, Lawton, Oklahoma

Time to take Owen home and visit family. Had a great week with Owen but his Mom and Dad are ready for him to come back home. Drove up to Moore to kidnap Hayden for a few days, will be glad when she is able to spend a week with us too.
Had to have an ultasound for the lump that was found during my annual exam. Took too long to get results back, will have to shop around if I ever need this again! Results were negative so not sure what the lump is, will just monitor it for a couple of months, I guess.
Owen's birthday party was great but Stacy was sick with a UTI that she ended up in the hospital a couple of days after Owen's party. UTI and a reaction to an rheumatoid arthritis medicine she takes.
The RV park at Lawtonka has no tree cover and the 115 plus temperature was more than our air conditioner and refrigerator could take! We got to spend a little time with Dad, visit Nancy and PeeWee, Debbie and Jim at the lake, fun seeing lake friends again. Moved over to Robinson's Landing on the north side of the lake to see if the trees would help out. It did help the AC but the refrigerator is still struggling at around 50 degrees - not cold enough to store food, for sure! Stacy is out of the hospital and doing better so we are heading north to get some relief from this heat!
