Tour the Area But Grand Canyon Too Far
WIND FINALLY GONE!!! Hurray!! Wanted to get out and see sights, should have stopped at the Travel Bureau but didn’t. Map showed the West Ridge Grand Canyon and “Natural Bridge” that was about 1 ½ hrs away. Well, the Bridge was on the North side of the Grand Canyon and the West Ridge was another hour up a dirt road so we turned around, went back down Route 66 back to Laughlin. Scenery was beautiful and we stopped in at a DQ in Kingman (that was worth the drive itself! We’ve been watching what we eat and trying to walk more so DQ is a REAL treat!!) Went to WalMart to restock, prices much higher here! Back to the RV to sit out in front of the RV, drink a beer and watch the sun go down, ROUGH LIFE :-)

Another Windy Day at AVI
&^%@# WIND! Stayed at the RV today, took a walk around the RV camp to check out license plates to see where every one was from. Tried getting up to Sam’s Town a couple of days early but they are booked so looks like we’ll just hang out here until Wed since the price is right ($18) and I don’t want to move to another place for just a couple of days.

Laughlin, Nevada
Still windy!!! Drove into Laughlin to check out some of the other casinos but didn’t want to play much to save it for Vegas. We played a very little at the Colorado Belle, went across to the Ramada, roamed the gift shops then went to the mall for lunch. Bruce found some CDs that he had been looking for and I found a small, over the shoulder purse that is much better for the races, shopping, etc. Decided that we’d seen enough and wanted to sit out front of the RV, have a beer and watch the sun set.

Spent the Day Around AVI Casino
3/2
Went over to the Casino for breakfast ($1.99 ham and eggs) then for a walk around the grounds. Large pool area and a nice beach but since too darn windy to really enjoy it. There was an area that had vendors in the south parking lot so we walked through that too. Several of them had the magnet bracelets and had one tell us story after story of ways that they have helped his customers. Headaches were one of the main things that I keyed in on so after looking around some more went back to the 1st one that we’d been to and bought one. They have a money back guarantee after wearing for 30 days, so we’ll see. Went back to the casino and played a little video poker, I started with $5 and ended with $15, Bruce lost $10 so we broke even.

AVI Casino and RV Park - Laughlin, Nevada
Wind has calmed down and lake is very big and nice. We are leaving today for Laughlin, which should have only been a couple of hours… After going up 95 through Bullhead City over to Laughlin, found that Avi was not IN Laughlin but was 10 miles south! It was right across the Colorado from us when we got to Bullhead. Oh well, scenic route once again. Nice KOA RV park, large, gravel, full hook ups but have to pay $8 a day for WiFi!! They do have 2 computers at the office that campers can use for 30 minutes so will at least be able to check emails. The 1st site that they had for us was she said “I can’t put you in the middle of all that” which we weren’t sure what “that” was so she gave us another site #. When we drove to it someone was already in it so we parked in an empty one that was at the end of the row, close to the bathhouse/office and walked over to the office to settle our site problem. Office seems very confused, not knowing who is where and they seem to think that the park in full but there are a LOT of empty sites, can’t figure it out, oh well. We got the site we wanted, open area out front with palm trees and bathroom close since Bruce still doesn’t like to go in the RV, goofy guy!
Our great site at AVI |
AVI pool, hate it's blurry because it was nice! |
