Las Vegas - Here we come! Jan. 23 - 25, 2012

On the road again! Got Bruce's dad trained on getting mom into the compression boot and so here we go!!  We had decided to bring my car on this trip so Bruce's is driving the F250 and pulling the RV and I'm tagging along in my car. This should be interesting!!
Kiva RV Park - Tucumcari, NM
Our first night was in Tucumcari, NM at the Kiva RV Park. We'd stayed here before, just a basic park but had cable and great WiFi. We were in site #8 which was a very level pull through. They offered Good Sam's discount so not bad for $20.
I-40 with Flagstaff on the horizon.
Our second night was in Holbrook, AZ at the OK RV Park. We used our Good Sam card again so the rate was $25 plus tax ($27.53) The park was the typical desert setting, gravel with a few trees. Long pull through site #G11. My only complaint was they had a camper come in right next to us when the whole row was empty. Forgot to take pictures but we had a good excuse, temps drop into the 20s at night, they turn off the water at 7:30 pm and don't turn it back on until 10 am.
Sunset over Las Vegas
We got into Las Vegas around 3:30, we have the same site (#24) that we had last year at the Clark County Shooting Park.  Had a great reception from Linda and Phil, Vickie and Wade along with new neighbors, Sue and Jim, Terry and Pat. Other friends from last year stopped by later, Cindy and Jerry, Sharon and Mickey. It was great visiting with everyone. What a beautiful sunset we had our 1st night here!
This is our 3rd time to volunteer here and I guess this year they are actually going to have us do the hearing test and the lead blood test. Have our appointments for the tests on Monday. Looks like we are going to be Line Safety Officers this year. This should be interesting!

Austin, Texas - Jan. 5, 2012

Whew! Have we been busy!! We have had much fun with our families through the holidays then on Jan. 1, 2012 accompanied Jeannette, my sister in law, to bring my mother in law to Austin, Texas to be evaluated for Compression Boot therapy. The doctor thought that she was a good candidate so she started therapy immediately. Her therapy consists of a 90 minute session in the morning on the leg that is worse then a break for lunch. The afternoon started out at 45 minutes on each leg but has worked up to 90 minutes on each leg. Bruce came down on Tuesday to relieve Jeannette so she could get back to work and her family. We've been busy with getting her to therapy, lab work, getting her new shoes, moving to an extended stay motel, getting groceries and other things we didn't think about needing while we were here, etc.  To top our week off, someone tried to steal our truck last night! They punched out the door lock on the driver side door but they were unable to get inside or was spooked away, THANK GOD! What a mess that would have been and a costly one too. Bruce has been looking at new trucks but they are just too expensive for our budget right now and to find a good used one is very difficult. We are all ready for Jan. 15th to get here so we can head back to Lawton!
